A Heads-Up for Long-Time Balancer Users

While reviewing DAO owned assets, I also began checking historical positions belonging to external Balancer users.

So far, I estimate that more than $500k in assets has been identified and brought to the attention of the relevant owners.

The main findings fall into two categories that portfolio dashboards can easily miss: buffer liquidity and legacy rewards.

Buffer Liquidity

Several external parties still had funds inside Balancer v3 liquidity buffers.

These positions use internal Vault accounting. They may not appear on block explorers, DeBank or other portfolio dashboards.

Positions were identified for Ethena, Gauntlet and other Balancer users. Most entities were notified and started their withdrawals.

Legacy Rewards

Additional funds were found in legacy Balancer v2 liquidity mining contracts. The Balancer Portfolio page includes an integration for checking supported legacy positions and rewards.

In some cases, the liquidity had already been withdrawn while partner rewards remained claimable. One example involved legacy LDO rewards belonging to Gnosis DAO and its stakeholders. Similar rewards were identified for other historical Balancer users.

Where to Check and How to Get Help

If your protocol or personal wallet previously used any Balancer version, it may be worth reviewing more than your current token balances.

In particular, consider checking:

  • Legacy v2 LM contracts
  • Balancer v3 buffer shares
  • Partner rewards distributors
  • Old operational wallets and Safes

The legacy interface will remain available as the simplest way to withdraw from Balancer (v1, v2, v3) pools, as well as unstake gauge positions. It provides a guided alternative to constructing the required contract calls manually.

For direct contract interactions, the manual exit guide covers all protocol versions and gauge withdrawals. It explains how to identify a position, verify the relevant contracts, simulate and execute the withdrawal without interface.
