# Motivation After extensive discussions with key stakeholders about the DAO’s BAL holdings and their continuous decline, it is important to closely examine the current reserves. Given the dependency of numerous initiatives on BAL, we have prepared this concise analysis to quantify and budget for the available reserves by the end of this year. This analysis takes into account service provider renewals and additional BAL allocation proposals/strategic partnerships, encompassing all expected BAL inflows and outflows for the remainder of 2024. All necessary BAL balances, pricing, links to addresses and forum / Snapshot proposals are availbable in the following spreadsheet: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ORG6K0\_KyWtd5g1dcCnHonHzQTQ2ZE6b3TdOTMlpyw0/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ORG6K0_KyWtd5g1dcCnHonHzQTQ2ZE6b3TdOTMlpyw0/edit?usp=sharing) # Key Findings ## Current Holdings Currently, across all chains, vaults, and liquidity positions, the DAO holds **4,520,786 BAL**. ![image1](https://canada1.discourse-cdn.com/flex027/uploads/balancer/original/2X/a/a273a7bfcfcbfbddd656529ffc16dc04fd5c1475.png) ## Inflows Due to the [termination](https://forum.balancer.fi/t/bip-578-engage-wonderland-as-a-service-provider/5659/22) of Wonderland’s collaboration with the Balancer DAO, the unvested tokens [remaining in the contract](https://etherscan.io/address/0xd6208f3b61640baebb71aa59b58cc61e32f8ddf5#readContract#F2), **242,286 BA** L, will be returned to the DAO multisig. ## Outflows Expected expenses in BAL for H2 2024 include Service Providers (estimated using the latest [financial performance report](https://forum.balancer.fi/t/balancer-dao-q2-2024-financial-performance-report/5870)) and karpatkey fees bases as per [BIP-648](https://forum.balancer.fi/t/bip-648-balancer-dao-financial-reporting-by-karpatkey/5787). can you explain how the forecasted balance eoy 2024 of 3295k minus the earmarks of 546k and 683k end up as 599k? it is missing roughly 1467k in my calculation ---

Thanks for the review @gosuto Indeed the EOY balance was double counting the expenses on the “Forecasted Expenses” tab. Issue is fixed and the final estimate is **2,049,816 BAL** (includes the 1467k you flagged). ---

Hey guys, I noticed in your proposal that you have earmarked the bug bounty in BAL. As we discussed, it seems extremely risky to handle it that way. Could you elaborate on why earmarking BAL is better than using a stablecoin? If we find a severe bug and need to suddenly sell a large amount of BAL, it could have a significant and damaging impact on the price. How would this impact compare to having the bug bounty earmarked in a stablecoin? Thanks.
